We face a challenge in today’s world to make sure that God’s Word is taught, learned, and spread to a world that is lost. Jesus’ words to his disciples to shine as light seems even more relevant when you turn on the tv, news, or other media outlet and see all the dark, depressing sin in the world.
For many years, Christians work and create incredibly innovative ways to reach the lost and encourage the brethren. Evangelism and education have grown from the printed page into the digital age, reaching many thousands more than before each day. However, with so many different people writing books or lessons, creating these wonderful ways to teach God’s Word, sometimes it is hard to find these things that might be helpful or interesting in our work. Gone are the Bible Bookstores — even on Christian campuses — where you can walk around and browse for ideas for classes or sermons. Even the Christian periodicals have decreased in circulation and printing.
This apparent gap in access to sound, Christian materials makes it harder to complete God’s challenge to teach. Where do you go to find a good book or study to use for Bible classes in your local congregation? Are you able to find quality materials and handouts to use when studying the Bible with someone else? When you want to listen to challenging Bible lessons, do you have to go to multiple places to find lessons?

Our goal at LightWay is to provide resources that will help foster deeper growth, greater avenues for evangelism, and better publicity for quality Christian resources and products. We want to provide a marketplace for preachers, teachers, and creators in the Lord’s church to share their books, studies, and products for others to find and use in local work. Whether they are sold or given away for free, our marketplace will be a place for Christians to come when looking for resources for church Bible classes, evangelism aids, or even individual study and devotion.
LightWay will provide several ways to provide access to resources for Christians.
LightWay Store
With the demise of brick-and-mortar Christian bookstores, it has become increasingly difficult to peruse and find good books to use as the basis for weekly Bible study. Gone are the days when you could walk through the Bible Bookstore at Freed-Hardeman University, and it is harder to search online to find books or other materials. Sure, there is Amazon, but sometimes you don’t know who the author is or if the book is worth the price.
Additionally, it is astounding how many preachers have created lesson series or written books that could be beneficial to the brotherhood! But, we don’t know about them because they are only found on their individual website or Facebook page. So many wonderful materials exist, and they need to be shared with others so that they can use the materials.
LightWay Store will be an online Christian marketplace where authors and creators can offer their products for sale or for free download. Similar to Amazon or Etsy, the store will allow creator a conduit to manage their own sales and products in their very own online “storefront.” What is even better, the very low fees if you sell (lower than Amazon and Etsy!) are only paid when an item actually sells.
LightWay Media will focus on providing multimedia content and resources to Christians. One of the first goals is to create a new Christian podcast network that will offer multiple different shows focusing on various topics and studies. Although there are several good Christian podcasts available, we want to try and combine some under a centralized umbrella network so that we can take advantage of cross-promotion while maintaining a high level of content and quality. The new LightWay Podcast Network will be accessible on all major streaming platforms and offer regular episodes for listeners.
With so many churches recording audio sermons and lessons, there are thousands of new audio files created weekly that are beneficial to Christians. LightWay will provide a central location for people to upload and share these files freely so others can benefit from the lessons. This site can also be used for evangelism as millions search every day online for the meaning of God’s scripture.
LightWay Audio will be a completely FREE service for all who want to take advantage of its incredible features. Users can register, create playlists, download audio, and even upload audio files for others to access. As a completely free repository of Christian audio files, it has the potential to reach many people with the saving Gospel message and edify the Lord’s Church with quality lessons that can be searched by speaker, topic, or location.
LightWay Publishing will be created from our former publishing business, Kachelman Publications.
Kachelman Publications officially began around 2003 to provide quality bible study materials and resources to preachers and teachers. Our work initially began because we wanted to offer materials by my father, John Kachelman Jr., and his many years of work as a preacher and we put together lesson series for other preachers and teachers to purchase for use in their local work. Most of these were series that Dad had done and were simply bound in a book, with handouts and (sometimes) transparencies to be used for presentation. As times have changed we have moved on from transparencies to PowerPoint and have more digital offerings than printed resources. We also continued to grow from only publishing Dad’s materials to offering materials and books by several other authors.
LightWay Publishing will continue to provide quality study materials for anyone to use so that the truth of God’s word is understood and can be applied to our lives. Our publishing arm will offer services to those who have written works and may need help to format, design, market, and sell the materials.
We need to take advantage of every opportunity to teach the truth to others in the world, and that even includes all the multimedia options. Several Christians have begun to do this and do it very well. Others may have some good ideas and want to start but do not know quite how to get started. Whether it be publishing a book, workbook, lesson series, or even starting an audio podcast, we can use these avenues to reach the lost, encourage the brethren, and provide resources for those hoping to do both.
