Thank you for your interest in publishing with Kachelman Publications! We look forward to reviewing your proposed work. As part of your submission, please try to follow these guidelines and make sure and address the following items as you write and create your work.<\/p>\n

Working Title\/Subtitle<\/h3>\n

Make your title (and any subtitle) as creative as possible while still accurately describing your work. You want people to be interested in your book or study by reading the title so that they will read further about it and hopefully purchase a copy.<\/p>\n

Remember: Search engines have to pick up on the title, subtitle or keywords in a book. If your title is descriptive it will help people find your book.<\/em><\/p>\n

Basic Description of the Work<\/h3>\n

You need to provide a brief summary of the book. This should be done within 4-6 sentences at the most. Imagine if someone asked you, \u201cWhat is your book about?\u201d How would you respond?\u00a0 If you were to write a brief post on social media about your book, what would you say?<\/p>\n

Use descriptive terms to identify the strengths of the \u201cproduct\u201d and give a clear, concise idea about what someone would read or study in your work.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Author\/Contributor Background<\/h3>\n

We need a brief biographical sketch of each editor, author, and\/or contributor to the work. Try not to focus only on academic background but also include any ministerial or teaching experiences. Highlight anything that is noteworthy (like previous books, experience, recognition, family history, etc.) that might grab a person’s attention.<\/p>\n

Annotated Outline of Book<\/h3>\n

Provide brief descriptions of the sections and\/or chapters of the book.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Target Audience\/Marketing<\/h3>\n

Try to identify to whom the book is written so that we can properly market it and include it in the proper listings with any of the following information:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Potential uses and markets for the book<\/li>\n
  • Particular areas or groups that might use the book such as Bible study groups (Sunday Schools, Life Groups, Men\u2019s or Women\u2019s Groups, etc.), textbook (What classes? High School, College, Seminary, etc.)<\/li>\n
  • Theological traditions represented in the book<\/li>\n
  • Connections the authors\/contributors have that will aid in marketing<\/li>\n
  • Advantages of this Text<\/li>\n
  • Potential \u201ccompetitors\u201d for the work and any distinctions from your book<\/li>\n
  • Describe the unique strengths of your book compared to the weaknesses of other similar books<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Supplemental Materials<\/h3>\n

    Many study books may have other \u201csupplemental\u201d materials that can be offered for purchase or download.\u00a0 Describe or include any of these type of materials to your submitted work (e.g., study questions, a blog, digital resources, etc.).<\/p>\n

    Timetable for Completion<\/h3>\n

    If you are not finished with your work, provide us with an overall time frame needed to complete your book and\/or study (e.g., 6 months, 1 year, 18 months, etc.). Identify where you are at in the book\u2019s completion and what you will be doing to safeguard the quality of the continuing process.<\/p>\n

    Additional Guidelines<\/h3>\n

    We would request that you follow The Chicago Manual of Style<\/span> (14th edition) rules. This basically provides that you do the following with respect to the format of your book:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Use 8 \u00bd\u201d X 11\u201d size paper<\/li>\n
    • Double-spaced<\/li>\n
    • Use 0ne-inch (1″) margins on all sides of the paper<\/li>\n
    • If you are printing out your work (we would prefer a digital version), print on only one side of the paper<\/li>\n
    • Pages should be numbered consecutively throughout<\/li>\n
    • Do not use right-margin justification<\/li>\n
    • All Scripture references must include the translation or paraphrase from which they came (Kachelman Publications prefers The English Standard Version or The New American Standard Bible)<\/li>\n
    • Footnotes must include author, name of the book, publisher, place of publication, copyright date, and page number of the quotation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Copyrighted Material<\/h3>\n

      Authors are responsible for obtaining – and paying for – permission to use any copyrighted material. If you include any copyrighted materials, you must also include a written permission with your submitted work.<\/p>\n

      Generally speaking, if you quote more than one line of a song, one line of poetry, 100 words of an article or 200 words of a book you will have to obtain permission for that quotation.<\/p>\n

      Submission of Physical Manuscript<\/h3>\n

      If you prefer to submit a physical, printed manuscript you must send readable copies.<\/p>\n

      Unless it is specifically requested, please do not not submit artwork with your manuscript.<\/p>\n

      We will only return a physical manuscript if you provide sufficient return postage with your submission. We will not be responsible for any damage or lost manuscripts in the mail.\u00a0<\/p>\n
